Unconditional Love

When you think of unconditional love, who comes to your mind? Your parents? Your spouse or significant other? Your children? All of these examples would be correct, but we would be missing one of the purest forms of love that we can find; the love from and for our fur babies. A fur baby can come in many different shapes, sizes, and species; from the traditional dogs and cats, to guinea pigs, bunnies, hamsters, and even rats. They greet us when we come home with so much joy in their eyes because we are their world. They love to play, go for walks, snuggle and sleep by us. When we are sad they comfort us. They will listen to us and never tell another soul our deepest thoughts.

If you are blessed to have such an amazing friend by your side to go through every up and down that this crazy world will throw at you, take that extra moment to snuggle, walk that extra block, play that extra 5 minutes, and give that extra treat. They give us so much and expect so little in return. They spend their short but large lives by our sides and share with us the most important thing - that no matter what you are special, you are important, and you are loved because to them you are their world. They are always accepting and just want to be with you. They want your attention, your love, and your time. I hope everyone is lucky enough to be able to experience the unconditional love from these amazing spirits. They make our lives richer and memories fonder.

Because of their unwavering love, one of the hardest things to go through in life is the day your fur baby passes away. To compound this loss, there is the addition of all the little moments that you may have taken for granted before; their excited welcome when you come home from work, the gentle push from their head trying to get your attention because they know you are sad and want to comfort you, how the house feels so empty without their presence. All of this can culminate into the feeling that there is a huge piece of your life missing. The loss can feel unbearable, but the gift of their excitement, commitment, and dedication makes everything worthwhile. We are so fortunate to go through life side-by-side with such amazing companions. Our lives will forever be richer with the memories and moments that we spent with them. They are the definition of unconditional love.
