Saturday, January 16th, Thrive facilities in Detroit Lakes received their first round of the COVID-19 vaccination. Thrive has four HCBS homes in Detroit Lakes including the following: Bayview, Beacon House, Lighthouse and Seashore.
Rhonda Ueke, Program Manager for these four homes, recapped the day for all of us:
We held our first vaccination clinic in Detroit Lakes on Saturday the 16th. The vaccination clinic went very smooth. The CVS pharmacist and her assistant were very knowledgeable about the vaccination and answered questions that individuals had for them. None of my staff mentioned any sort of side effects other than myself, with a sore arm afterwards.
One staff that was vaccinated ahead of me told me, "I did it for my mom." I had to smile because I received mine for my dad. Along with other reasons, but we both did it out of LOVE.
On Saturday, I had a few phone calls from staff wondering if they could still get in on the clinic and a couple of individuals. So I am happy to announce that my list for the Detroit Lakes homes has grown and I am hopeful that more will contact me within the next couple of weeks to get signed up for the next clinic coming up on February 13th.
