On Wednesday, January 27th, our IRTS facility Austin Manor located in Austin, MN received their first round of the COVID-19 vaccine. Shaylyn Freeman, Austin Manor’s Mental Health Practitioner / Intake Specialist was on-site that day to receive the first round of vaccine and provided the following recap of the day.
On Wednesday morning, the staff office was buzzing with talk of the COVID-19 vaccine clinic that was scheduled to take place later that afternoon. Many of us experienced anxiety and hesitation about the potential outcomes, whereas some showed excitement and definitive views on why or why not they planned to get the vaccine. Some staff flip-flopped before making the final decision of whether or not they would receive the vaccine but in the end, ended up getting it. Overall, many of us reported the experience of getting the vaccine as not painful however, the after effects of soreness seemed somewhat annoying and bothersome. Those of us who received the vaccine continue to remain alive and well.
Below are some of the Austin Manor staff that received their first round of the vaccine:
Rachel Weigel - Treatment Director
Shaylyn Freeman - Mental Health Practitioner - Intake Specialist
Damian Montes - Mental Health Practitioner
Alena Kritzer - Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker
It’s great to hear our staff taking advantage of this great opportunity, coming together to protect themselves and all those around them. Thank you Austin Manor staff!
